This week in Year 1 we have been learning poetry. We read the poem ‘ The day of The Gulls’ by Jennifer Curry. We worked collaboratively to come up with powerful verbs for flying and imaginative adjectives for the views that birds see when they are flying. We then magpied from our word walls to create our own version of the poem.
Once we had planned our poetry we wrote our own version of ‘ The Day of the Gulls’ where we changed the birds and used our own verbs and adjectives to make it our own. We then finished the week with performing some other poems about birds. Check some of our performances out below:
