This week we celebrated National Poetry Day. We had a very special visit from Kate Wakeling who shared some of her amazing poems with us. We really enjoyed her visit and were inspired to write our own poetry.
We combined our poetry learning with our current topic by looking at a poem called ‘The Great Fire of London’. We discussed the word choices used and then dramatised the verses from the poem.
We then created our own poems titled ‘I am’. These poems focused on the different activities we like to do that makes us unique.
In Science we continued with our learning about materials. We experimented with possible suitable materials to make a tea bag!
When making predictions, we thought that foil would be the most suitable. However, after we had conducted the tests, we concluded that foil was the least suitable material. We found that kitchen roll and tissue paper were both very suitable materials for a tea bag.
A big thank you to the many parents that came to Stay and Learn this morning. It was lovely to welcome so many of you to Year 2.
