Pepperoni? Pineapple? Peppers? This week in Year 4, the children had the chance to get creative in the kitchen, creating their own delicious pizzas! The children developed their cutting skills, and showed fantastic teamwork. And we’ve got to say there were some future Masterchef stars among them, watch this space…
Well done to all the children who managed to walk to school everyday this week. I know the weather hasn’t made it tempting some days, but it’s great to see everybody making the effort despite the rain!
Year 4 have been developing their understanding of ‘Inference’ and ‘Justifying’ this week in their reading lessons. It has been great to hear them developing maturity in their responses, to explain not only what they THINK but how they can PROVE it. Test their understanding this weekend whilst you’re reading at home.
Ask them questions such as:
- What can you infer about the character in this sentence/ paragraph/ chapter?
- Can you infer how …… feels at this point in the story?
- Can you infer, why the character responded in that way?
- How can you justify your answer?
- How do you know this?
- How can you prove it?
- Where is the evidence?
