Nursery arrived on Monday to find a ‘wanted’ poster on the wall – we were asked to look out for a big, bad wolf – which we later found hiding in our room!
We discovered he was looking for ‘The 3 Little Pigs’ from our key text. We have done a wonderful job of retelling and sequencing the story; as well as acting it out with masks and costumes.
We investigated the materials the pigs used for their houses to see which would be best. We used a ‘hairdryer wolf’ to test which material was the strongest, and made our own straw, stick and brick houses with junk modelling, shapes, collage and printing.
We made houses for our pigs from the construction resources around our room, and also had a go at making walls with sand ‘cement’ on the funky fingers table.
We made some wonderful pigs and wolves using shapes, paint and collage materials.
Our focus in maths was the number 3, and we did a wonderful job of giving the pigs 3 of everything they would need for a picnic. We later had lots of fun going on a hunt to find 3 things, and numeral 3s in our classroom.
