Welcome back after a lovely Easter break! In Reception, we have jumped straight back into our phonics. Every morning, from 9-9:30, the classes head off to their phonics lesson as part of 3 differentiated groups. We practice letter formation, focussing on beginning and ending our letters in the correct place with correct placement on the line as well as learning new sounds to blend for reading and segment words for sentence writing. In Reception, we love to challenge ourselves to make our sentences more interesting and we use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces. Last term we finished phase 2 and are now well into phase 3 of the Letters and Sounds program. By the end of the term, we will be heading into phase 4. The children did really well on Tuesday at remembering to use their phonic knowledge to write all about their Easter holidays.
