Nursery have had a busy week learning their songs for their nursery rhyme concert. Some of us painted some pictures of the rhymes to decorate the hall.
We practised some old traditional favourites such as ‘Incy Wincy Spider’ and ‘Humpty Dumpty’.
We also performed one or two songs that we learnt as part of our theme, ‘Adventures under the Sea’ – such as ‘1,2,3,4.5 once I caught a fish alive’ and a current favourite of ours: ‘Slippery Fish’.
A few of us were brave enough to use our big speaking voices to welcome the audience and thank them for coming. We all did a fantastic job!
We then celebrated our achievement by inviting our families to our classroom for refreshments and a little play.
This week we also had a workshop by our dental nurse: we learnt all about how to look after and brush our teeth. Some of us even had a go at practising the right moves with the model.
We concluded our learning on all things under the sea by reading ‘Hurray for fish’. We talked about patterns, shapes and rhyming words.
We shared our own experiences of the sea, and created fish and the ocean in a number of ways – including bubble painting and playdough.
We also explored how we could use jelly, crushed biscuits, sweet fish and cream to make a very yummy sea scene. What an exciting topic this has been – hurray for fish indeed!
