This week the children donned their aprons and showed off their culinary skills by preparing the most delicious pancakes!
Many famous book characters graced us with their presence: Princess Anna, Princess Elsa, Dennis the Menace, Harry Potter and many more!
The children discussed the rules when cooking such as washing your hands, listening to instructions, paying attention to what is happening and most importantly, having fun!
Not only did the children learn about cooking pancakes but they also learned about how Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday), came about. We learned that we make pancakes as it symbolises the eating of special rich foods before the fasting season of Lent. Also it traditionally meant that food cupboards were emptied of treats and luxuries before people began the Lenten season.
The children have all discussed what they would like to give up or what good deeds they would like to do during the Lenten season.
We thoroughly enjoyed cooking our pancakes and we hope the cooking continues at home!
