This week in Maths, Reception have been learning about doubling. We heard the story ‘Two of everything’ which was about a magic pot. When Mrs. Haitek falls into the magic pot, two Mrs. haitek’s pop out, she was doubled! We used our fingers to show doubles and we practiced our doubling skills in different ways. Some of us painted spots on butterflies and folded them in half to find the doubles. We also wrote the equations to match. Others used the ladybirds and spots to make doubles. We know that two lots of the same amount is double.
Our new focus in RE this half term is ‘Our world’. We talked about our favourite parts of the world, drew pictures and write sentences about what we loved the most. We also collaged Earth using tissue paper, paper plates and paint. In our Caritas learning, the theme was ‘Stewardship’. We heard the creation story and went on a look around our outdoor area to see what amazing things God had created. We even laid down and looked up into the sky and took a visit to the woodland. Sadly, in the woodland we found some rubbish. This made us think about how we could be good stewards of the Earth and help to look after what God had created. Some children made badges to show what they would like to look after on Earth, some children drew pictures and wrote about what they will do to help, some children fished rubbish out of the sea and everyone planted some seeds!
What a fun first week back we have had!
