Today, Year 6 tackled the important global issue of immigrants travelling from Honduras and El Salvador, seeking asylum in Mexico and the USA. The children considered the migrants’ reasons for leaving their homeland as well as the opportunities that might present themselves to their families if they were to settle elsewhere. Such thought provoking information resulted in a House of Lords style debate within Amethyst and Violet’s classrooms, with the children sharing arguments both for and against allowing migration to take place in South America.
Well done Year 6!
