This has been a really fun and busy week back in Nursery. The children continued their learning linked to the story Matisse’s Magical Trail and spent some time searching for snails outside. They learnt about where snails like to live as well as how we should take care of all God’s creatures no matter how small. The children made their own snail trail marks inspired by Matisse and gave meaning to their marks. For our maths learning, we compared numbers to five by building towers and stacking pebbles. We used the words more, less and fewer to describe and compare the amounts. In our phonics, we had a go at making some silly soup that rhymed and the children were introduced to the word ‘syllable’ and what it meant. We clapped the syllables in each other’s names and animal names too.
