This week in Year 1 we were lucky enough to embark on a trip to the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green. The children were excited about the prospect of travelling on the underground. Not enough praise can be given to how well the whole of Year 1 behaved while commuting to and from the Museum.
On to the trip itself. Children were given the chance to explore the museum and discover some toys that they play with today and also toys that teachers and adult helpers used to play with in their childhood. Children were able to ride an old rocking horse and walk through a Michael Morpurgo expedition.
Each Year 1 class had the amazing opportunity to take part in a toys from the past workshop, kindly put on by the Museum. Children experienced sorting new and old toys, playing with toys from over 50 years ago and making their very own doll, using a peg and a piece of cloth.
Overall, the success of this trip was massive and we would like to thank all the adult helpers who accompanied us on our wonderful trip.
