Pearl Class started their final summer term with an exciting new theme : ‘A Taste of the World’. We arrived in our class on Monday to find a huge inflatable ball which we learnt was a ‘globe’. We have already started to talk about the huge range of countries our families originate from. We also found a beautiful carpet – and some of us guessed it may be magic and might even fly!
It was in fact from our story, ‘My Granny went to market’. As Granny bought her flying carpet in Istanbul we talked about Turkey. We shared our own family connections to the country and compared Turkish breakfasts with those from England. We all had a great time sitting on the carpet and imagining which countries we might go to – and discussing what we might do there.
We made some beautiful carpets from paper, fabric and playdough and used pegs on the funky fingers table to design patterns for them.
We also did a wonderful job of counting souvenirs and matching them to numerals. We talked about, learnt rhymes and sang songs about our grandmothers.
The finale of the week was our ‘Sponsored Bounce’. We had so much fun bouncing on the bouncy castle – what an enjoyable way to raise money for our school!
