After an exciting week watching our chicks hatch, Pearl Class were very keen to get a closer look at our new arrivals. As we met them face to face, we did a fantastic job of being kind and gentle as we held and stroked them – and there was lots to talk about!
We captured our experiences by creating some lovely chicks from collage and playdough. We have also been learning about the life-cycle of a chicken, and the ways we need to care for baby chicks.
We also arrived on Monday to find a beanstalk growing in our classroom! We set about investigating where it might have come from – and discovered that it may in fact be ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk.’
We had lots of fun acting out the story on the small world table, and helping Jasper pick up the minibeasts in the funky fingers area.
Inspired by Jasper, we decided to plant our own beans and talked about all the things plants need to thrive. We hope to have more patience than Jasper when waiting for them to grow!
