This week’s focus in Nursery was all about pets. We shared photos of our own pets and enjoyed talking about them. We created animals in a variety of ways – using paint, pens, chalk, playdough and collage materials.
In maths we went on a number 3 hunt and found number three objects both inside and outside.
We went on a walk to the woodlands area and discussed the frost and signs of winter that we noticed. Some play animals were trapped in the ice and we observed what happened as it melted. Inside the treehouse we found a purple egg! It was from our ‘I want a pet’ story and we went back to class and drew what we thought might hatch from it.
We talked about what pets need and how to look after them. We learnt that human beings are also animals that have needs. We thought about how we need to look after ourselves, and decided to make a healthy and delicious fruit salad.
On Friday we kept our bodies fit by going into the hall and moving like all the pets we have been investigating.
