The children have certainly been making the most of the hot weather this week! We have had a wonderful time enjoying ourselves in our new paddling pools outside. We observed the signs of summer in our nature areas and created our responses with collage and paintings.
We learnt about Europe and read ‘The Enormous Turnip’. We found some number turnips and did a great job of putting them in the right order.
We sequenced and acted out our story, and practised telling it to a friend.
We talked about vegetables and how they are so healthy for us. Inspired by the Italian artist, Arcimboldo we used vegetables including to create portraits – which we later got to eat.
We created turnips and other healthy vegetables on the creative and playdough tables.
We learnt about the traditional dances from some of the countries in Europe and impressed our teachers with our flair for Cossack dancing and Flamenco!
Finally, we all had a very special time celebrating with our loved ones at our Father’s day picnic – which was a wonderful way to end such a gloriously warm week.
