Nursery has had a very full week. On Monday we celebrated Lunar New Year. We made lanterns, dragons and learnt about all sorts of traditions involved this special festival. We read the story of the Emperor and the 12 animals. We went outside and acted in role as the animals having a race across the river.
We also found a wolf in our room! We discovered he was looking for ‘The 3 Little Pigs’ from our key text. We investigated the materials the pigs used for their houses to see which would be best.
We used a ‘hairdryer wolf’ to test which material was the strongest, and made our own straw, stick and brick houses with junk modelling, shapes, collage and printing. We made houses for our small pigs from the construction resources around our room, and made some wonderful playdough pigs.
We acted out the story with puppets and small world figures. Later in the week some of us acted out the story with masks and costumes in front of the class. Great job Nursery!
