Welcome back. We hope you all had a lovely half term holiday. This week Nursery have been extremely busy doing lots and lots of learning. We started the week learning all about Diwali. The children learnt the story of Rama and Sita, they made their own Rangoli patterns using oil pastels, we made our own diya lamps using salt dough and finally the children learnt a Diwali dance.
We also learnt about COP26, the Conference of Parties who were in Scotland this week, we learnt that they have been talking about big ways to help save our planet. In Nursery we discussed how we can help save the planets in small ways, the children came up with lots of ideas from turning the taps off when we brush our teeth so it doesn’t keep running, to putting our rubbish in the bin and not on the floor. They also helped collect the rubbish out of our water tray to help save the sea life. We also learnt that we can recycle lots of different things including paper, food and cans.
Lastly we learnt all about Bonfire Night, we learnt all about how Guy Fawkes didn’t like the King or the Government and wanted to get rid of them by blowing them up a very long time ago. The children discussed how this was a very, very bad choice. The children learnt that Guy Fawkes didn’t succeed and that the King was so happy he wanted everyone to celebrate and so we have fireworks. The children had lots of fun creating their own firework pictures.
