Nursery did a great job of settling after their half term break, and were excited to guess what their new theme could be. The biggest clue was the exciting discovery of some enormous footprints in our classrooms. We set about investigating them, and after some discussion we decided that they could belong to a dinosaur!

Our new theme is in fact ‘Megabeasts’, and the bucket of dinosaurs we found belongs to Harry from our key text: ‘Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs’. We have already been sharing our own ideas and knowledge about dinosaurs – some of us have even visited museums to learn about them! We have also begun to create a dinosaur cave role play area.

The children have also been sharing their experiences of autumnal celebrations and events. We have had lots of fun discussing firework displays, and we decided to capture our responses with a range of art activities, number rhymes and movement.

Our maths focus this week has been ‘repeating patterns’. The children did a wonderful job of continuing a 2-part repeating pattern using fireworks visuals, classroom resources and blocks large and small.
