Nursery spent the final week of their ‘Animal Fun’ theme learning about bears. We read our key text, ‘Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?’ and enjoyed retelling it with masks and binoculars to enhance the story.
We learnt that there are many types of bear, and we even had a go of matching them to their habitats on the small world table.
We made some lovely bears from collage materials and playdough, and we also created bears by drawing around shapes.
We also explored colour mixing in order to obtain the right colours for the animals in the story.
In maths our focus was the number 5. It was Phoenix the bear’s 5th birthday and he wanted 5 of everything. We did a fantastic job of counting out 5 treats for him, and had a wonderful time hunting for the numeral 5 all over our classroom.
On Friday our wonderful digital leaders came to visit us for a very special ‘Stay and Play’ session. They delivered a presentation called ‘Through the Window’, which was all about online safety. Afterwards we enjoyed drawing our responses with our parents and carers.
