Nursery have enjoyed continuing their discoveries about dinosaurs. Our key text this week was ‘Dinosaurs love underpants’ . The dinosaurs in the story were not so good at sharing, so we talked about sharing in our maths activities. We did a wonderful job of using our counting and thinking skills to help us when sharing different resources with a friend.
The children were curious about the cavemen in the story, and we compared how their life would have been different to ours. We looked at some photographs of ancient cave paintings and decided to have a go at some of our own – small scale and larger scale in our ‘dino-cave’.
As well as learning about ancient art, we also investigated a newer artist. We looked at the amazing pictures and sculptures that Andy Goldsworthy has created and were inspired to produce our own with natural resources such as stones, leaves, conkers, shells and twigs.
In R.E we are learnt about a very special Christmas birthday. We wondered who’s birthday it might be? We learnt that Christmas is the birthday of Jesus. We read and role-played the first part of the Nativity Story, made birthday cards and created a wonderful birthday party for Jesus.
