Year 6 used a short film clip as a creative writing stimulus this week. The video showed a young boy who had learnt to fly and our children were given the task of describing what he might see, hear, feel, taste and smell on his adventures across the world.
In their reading sessions, the children focused on the skill of summarising the main points of different texts throughout the week (Reading Domain 2c). Parents: get your child summarising what they are reading at home – it could be a novel, news article or even a leaflet that came through the post.
In Maths, the children looked at the relationship between positive and negative numbers and demonstretd that they could order them correctly. They discussed real-life examples such as thermometers and how cold it is the UK – all year apparently.
Mr Prescott and Mr Groarke were so impressed with the Viking homework they received, that they’ve added them to the classroom displays. Check them out; they’ve got loads of useful information. Some looked so good, it’s difficult to distinguish (Thursday’s Word of the Day) them from library text books.
