This week in Year 1 we have been making the most of the glorious sunshine! We took the opportunity to do some creative writing outside. Our story was about picking up a magic stone and the whole world started to change around us. We used a small word of dinosaurs to stimulate our imagination. We closed our eyes and when we opened them we were in a new land – a dinosaur land! We had to write about what we could see, hear, taste and touch!
We also learnt how important bees are to our ecosystem. We learnt how they help to pollinate plants and crops that grow our food. Without bees we would not be able to eat yummy fruit and vegetables. We also learnt that lots of other animals rely on bees to pollinate plants that they need to survive. Our bees are in danger so we need to look after them. We discussed how the weather is going to get hotter so we decided that our busy bees would need an opportunity to freshen up. We made bee baths by collecting different colour stones from around our school grounds. We then washed the stones and put them into bowls. Then we filled the bowls up with a little bit of water. The stones are there for the bees to balance one whilst they have a drink of water and freshen up on a hot summer day.
