We were so fortunate to participate in an outdoor learning workshop, where we learnt and practised Viking construction methods.
Once settled in England, the Vikings built their homes using local materials such as wooden stone blocks and turf. They used wattle and daub to build the walls, which when dry, protects inhabitants from the elements.
We also learnt weaving techniques used on Viking longhouses. Vikings lived in long, rectangular buildings with a cooking fire in the middle.
So much fun was had by all, and thank goodness we wore our wellies!!
Thank you Sophia for leading the session.
