This week in Little Gems we have been learning all about pigs on the farm. The children enjoyed exploring pigs in mud. We learnt that mud helps keep pigs cool in the hot weather.
The children made their own pigs using pink cupcake cases, pink wool and googly eyes. The children uses glue sticks to stick the cupcake cases onto the paper one above the other to create the head and body, then they added the eyes and used a pink piece of wool to make the tail.
The children also decorated their own biscuit to create a little pig face. The children mixed icing sugar, water and pink food colouring together in a bowl. Once it was all mixed they used the back of a spoon to spread the icing sugar onto the biscuit before adding edible eyes and marshmallows to create the ears and nose. After they made their biscuit the children were very happy to eat them.
