This week in Little Gems we have been very busy. The children listened to the story ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’ and we went to explore the woodland area looking for the bear. Luckily we didn’t find a bear hiding in the woodlands, but we did collect some leaves and sticks to use in our mud kitchen to create food for the bear. Amber said “I making cupcakes.”
The children went on a sensory walk. They took their shoes and socks off and carefully stepped through the different stages of the story. The children liked the water, grass and ‘snow’ the most.
The children also made their own discovery bottles relating to the story using mud, snow (flour), grass and leaves.
The children enjoyed exploring mud which we made using flour, cocoa powder and water. The children found different animals in the mud and transferred them to the water tray where they cleaned the muddy animals using sponges and toothbrushes.
The children made bears using playdough learning to manipulate the playdough with their hands, they rolled, patted, pinched and squeezed the playdough to create their bears. Zyaire said “I roll it with this,” whilst using the rolling pin.
The children also had fun creating their own firework pictures after watching firework displays over the weekend. We looked at pictures and videos of our friends that had been put on Tapestry.
