This week in Year 2 we concluded our learning about the Great Fire of London. We learnt about how the fire ended and explored this through drama. We acted as the key people involved in order to retell this event. We then extended this learning by focusing on what happened after the fire. We researched who Sir Christopher Wren was and what iconic London landmarks he was involved in constructing.
As part of our learning about current affairs we looked at the topic of trick-or-treating and discussed our different points of view on the topic. We had the opportunity to explain our thoughts in small groups and record our ideas on a mind map. We enjoyed having the opportunity to develop our speaking, listening and reasoning skills through this session.
Next week Year 2 will be completing their first cooking lesson of the year. We will be baking rock buns, scones and muffins which links to our learning about the Great Fire of London and the bakery situated in Pudding Lane. There will then be a bake sale taking place on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning at the coffee cart. This bake sale will be a fundraiser for Kafunjo.
We look forward to seeing you at our bake sale for a very worthy cause.
