On Thursday 25th January we were visited by teachers from Denmark keen to see how we use technology in the classroom.
When they visited Year 6, they were treated to some extraordinary acting in front of a green screen using the DoInk Green Screen app.
The children were charged with the task of researching Greece for their upcoming Topic work and were instructed to cover the following aspects:
– Ancient Greece
– Modern Greece
– Greek Culture
– The Geography of Greece
Once they had their facts, they needed to decide how they would present their research. Once they heard they would have access to a green screen and use of an app called ‘DoInk Green Screen’ their creativity knew no bounds.
We had: weather forecasts; restaurant scenes with a fully catered table; news reports from the Parthenon; and gladiatorial duels. It truly was epic!
It was clear to see our visitors were suitably impressed and Mr Groarke was asked on more than one occasion if the children had written their scripts by themselves. We definitely left them with some food for thought. Well done Year 6 for showing such enthusiasm in the filming and for bringing in props and costumes.
Homework Friday 26th January
- Maths – Your teacher has given you a worksheet to complete to consolidate this week’s classroom learning.
- Spellings – Look at the Year 5 and 6 New Curriculum Spelling List. Continue to choose words to learn, writing a sentence for each. We will be choosing 10 words to test the children on this week.
- SPAG – We have set a test for you to complete on spag.com. Answer all of the questions; we will review this in class next week.
- Religion – We have just started to explore the story of Exodus. Choose one part of the story to re-tell in your own words. You might find it useful to look at this website to help you choose a part of the story:We are looking for between ½ a page and 1 page of A4. You should include a small picture (drawn or printed) with your writing.
