Well done for everyone’s fantastic work this term! You are all ready for a well-deserved break and we wish everyone a Happy and Holy Easter!
This week, 12 children in year 5 got to take part in a debate competition against other schools at South Hampstead High School. The children taking part were absolutely amazing and enjoyed the day thoroughly! They argued in opposition and proposition of four statements including: ‘This house believes it is good to be famous’ and ‘This house believes 20% of the UK government should be 11-16 years old.’ The exhibited great confidence and excellent team work skills!
In science, we dissected a flower to explore the different parts. We explained the process of making new seeds from the pollen made in the anther rubbing onto a bee, to the pollen sticking to the stigma of a new plant, travelling down the style and joining with an ovule inside the ovary.
In geography, we learnt about protective measures put in place against avalanches and created posters to show our understanding. We also looked at the rescue methods and equipment used to save those trapped after avalanches including the example of Hotel Rigopiano.
