On Monday the 20th of March pupils in Years 5 and 6 along with our pupil leadership groups (Chaplains, Eco-Warriors, Digital Leaders, Librarians, Safety Leads and Sports Ambassadors) hosted stalls to support charities such as the Disaster Emergency Committee: Turkey and Syria as well as Help the Heroes. In addition the Safety Leads raised money towards a friendship bench and the Eco-Warriors fundraised for a greenhouse heater. The evert was called “Change for Change” and the emphasis of the event was for the pupils to have some fun whilst making a difference.
Using the “Parable of the Talents” we introduced the idea of pupils using their initiative to grow funds for a range of worthy causes. Each group put in an application to explain their stall, as well as their chosen charity before receiving a loan of £10 to help set up their stall. Pupils then worked together to bring their stall to life.
Despite the rain everyone had a good time and we raised over £750 for good causes. One Year 4 child said “It was a great afternoon. I know what I want to sell next year.”
