This week in Year 2 we have been very busy doing lots of exciting learning.
In Topic we had a cookery lesson where we learnt about hygiene when cooking and also explored the important aspects of safety. We made rock buns and scones which we were then able to sell at the coffee cart. The money raised will be donated to the Kafunjo project to support it with its important work. Thanks to the generosity of parents, carers and staff, we raised £111.31. Thank you for your support!
In English we made connections to our new topic, Pioneers. We researched who Neil Armstrong was and learnt about Apollo 11 and the landing on the moon. We then presented our findings and will be using what we have learnt to support us in our writing next week.
In Science we continued our learning about materials by planning and conducting our own investigation. We wanted to find out which material was the best at blocking light. We used cellophane, tissue and card and a torch as a light source. From the experiment we found that card was the best material at stopping the light.
This week also saw the return of the Book Fair. There was an opportunity for us to visit it during the week and we thoroughly enjoyed this!
