Governors Morning
On Tuesday 7th February, our School Governing Body joined us for another whole morning of school experience. This is a termly event for Governors.
The day started with Miss McFlynn explaining some of the published data about our pupils’ attainment and progress at the end of Year 2 and Year 6.
This was followed by spending time observing Maths teaching and learning in Year 6 and interviewing some of our Year 6 pupils. Governors were so impressed at how pupils used their reasoning skills and worked collaboratively to solve mathematical problems.
Later in the morning Governors had the opportunity to visit English lessons in Year 2 and Year 5. Year 5’s Literacy lesson, which used technology to motivate pupils to write a set of instructions for a computer game, was an excellent example of how we are developing our use of ‘camouflage learning’.
Afterwards, Governors had further opportunities to meet with some of our Year 2 and Year 5 pupils, to hear their thoughts about being in a smaller class, and they were amazed to hear how well our pupils can articulate what they enjoy about St Joseph’s and how they embrace the challenging lessons set in class.
As one Governor put it: ‘..Charming, articulate and informed students. A pleasure to meet them’ Another commented: ‘It reinforced our confidence that the school is doing well.’
Many thanks to our School Governors who gave up their time to visit our school. We appreciate all their hard work in supporting the school and helping it to continue to move forward.
