Last week in English, Year 2 designed their own weird and wonderful creatures based on ‘The Bog Baby’. This week, the children used an example text to identify the writer’s use of similes, conjunctions, adverbs and past tense verbs. They found some interesting words and phrases such as ‘immediately’, ‘wobbly like jelly’ and ‘trudged’. They then moved on by planning and writing their very own stories about their imaginary creatures. The range of vocabulary they used was phenomenal and we are impressed that some pupils are trying hard to use cursive handwriting correctly. You can see some examples of their creative writing right here! Next week, the children will be publishing the full final piece of writing.
