Dear Miss Halpin,
My name is Catherine Chamorro, Educational Psychologist with the Specific Language Impairment Assessment Team. I would like to arrange for myself and colleague Nicoline (Speech and Language Therapist) to visit you on Wednesday 24th June in the morning to carry out an assessment of Benjamin Peghuino. who has been referred to our team. I apologise for the short notice but the team only work on Wednesdays so I hope you will be able to accommodate us.
We would start by meeting Benjamin’s parents at 9.30am, then observe him in class/at play at 10.30amand then carry out some individual assessment with him including formal and informal play based assessment from 11.15am to 12pm.
It would be really useful to have a known adult to support Benjamin during the assessment unless you feel that he is confident enough to meet us without support and we would need a quiet and confidential space to meet with Benjamin’s parents and to carry out the assessment. We would also very much like to speak to his class teacher at some point during the morning either before the meeting of parents at 9am or after seeing Benjamin at 12 or 12.30pm, whichever is easiest for them.
Following this visit we will arrange a feedback meeting for parents and school staff and you are very welcome to join us.
If you can let me know whether this date and planned agenda is possible for you and Ben’s class teacher, I would be very grateful. If you have any questions or queries, please let me know.
Thank you very much,
