09 Feb China Day/Homework
China day was amazing!
Gill from the Chinese Association of Islington graced us with some workshops of Wednesday.
First the children learnt about Chinese culture, geography and about Gill’s upbringing. Then they learnt about Chinese traditions and diet. After that they moved onto looking at what their names meant and the year they were born in. Next the children had a go at Chinese calligraphy, they used bamboo brushes and Chinese paint made of soil to paint their names onto special paper (that is also used for ang pao).
After that the children wound down with some Tai Chi, they loved the opportunity to meditate and relax before going outside and performing the Lion dance!
The children absolutely loved the day, here are some photos to have a look at as well! Please do ensure you have made the £5 contribution on parent pay

Our new topic is extreme survival.

This could be completed on seesaw or as a poster for display in the classroom.1
