09 Feb A Time to Reflect
We’re more than halfway through the academic year, and it is at this time that many of us feel overwhelmed, tired and run down. With the half term coming up, it’s important to take stock of what we have and all that we have achieved so far.
So, Year 6, although we have set you some homework tasks, remember to take time to relax, recharge and reflect. How do you want this year to end? What are you doing to make that happen?
Here’s a round up of the week:
This week, Year 6 explored what it means to be safe online paying particular attention to social media. The school has just launched a new app called PopJam. This app’s sole focus is keeping children safe on social media and does not allow them to share personal information – including selfies. Our trusty digital leaders were on hand during the morning to help us get to grips with it.
In Religion, the children have been exploring the story of Exodus and how it influenced the Passover ritual we know today. The children analysed the symbolism of each item used at the Seder meal and were surprised at how detailed it was – the middle of the table was laid to represent the Red Sea.
In English, the children have been preparing for an upcoming writing assessment which will test their news report writing skills. We have been using the story of Theseus and the Minotaur as a stimulus for creativity.
